Evaluation Resources

Sturgeon Hockey Club is committed to providing a fair, consistent, and transparent evaluation process for all players. To help families better understand how evaluations are conducted, we have provided the resources below from our independent evaluation partner.

These documents outline the evaluation process, assessment criteria, and expectations for players and families. Whether you are new to evaluations or returning for another season, we encourage you to review the appropriate guide for your division prior to attending evaluations.

Please review the below resources:

Our goal is to ensure every player has the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in a positive and supportive environment while helping us place players where they can best develop and succeed throughout the season.

AA Evaluation Process

Players who are registered for both the Sturgeon Sting AA program and the appropriate Mustangs or Fillies program for their age division are required to attend the applicable Mustangs or Fillies evaluation skates. This ensures that all players can be properly evaluated for placement within Sturgeon Hockey Club and allows for a smooth transition if a player is released from the AA evaluation process.

Players will continue to participate in AA evaluations while also attending their designated Mustangs or Fillies evaluation sessions until they have either secured a position on a Sting AA roster or are released from the AA process. Once released, players will continue through the regular Mustangs or Fillies evaluation process for team placement.

Please note: Players registered for the Sting AA program are encouraged to attend all scheduled Sting AA conditioning skates. Mustangs and Fillies conditioning skates are optional for players participating in the Sting AA tryout process; however, attendance is encouraged as they provide additional ice time and preparation for evaluations.
